Individual Coaching and Counseling:

50 Minute Session $125

What’s the difference between coaching and counseling? Michelle is both a coach and licensed professional counselor. Both work with individuals to overcome obstacles and reach goals. Counseling involves diagnosing mental health and substance use disorders; sessions may be submitted to insurance for coverage, a diagnosis is required for this to occur. Coaching does not require a formal diagnosis and is considered “private pay.” Individual counseling is a personal opportunity to receive support and experience growth during challenging times in life.

Individual counseling can help one deal with many personal topics in life such as anger, depression, anxiety, substance abuse, marriage and relationship challenges, parenting problems, school difficulties, career changes etc. Counseling delves into the past of an individual in an attempt to understand the cause of the problems being felt by individuals. It is a conversation with an expert that helps people to gain a better understanding of their own behavior and emotions. Counseling lets people identify their patterns of thinking and suggests changes to start to feel better. Counseling helps in alleviating symptoms of anxiety and depression, in individuals, by removing fears, identifying barriers, developing skills and better coping with circumstances. Counseling also helps in resolution of mental conflicts and frustrations, often leading to better interpersonal relationships.

Coaching is a word that is very closely associated with a trainer or instructor. There is coaching for improvement of skills in a particular area and also to improve the performance. Coaching can be personalized as in one to one training; together we discuss an overarching goal and then work to develop a specific plan to achieve that goal. We will determine long-term, monthly, weekly, and daily goals and action steps to get there. Michelle will work to assist in setting a structure as well as provide motivation for getting there!
